Welcome to a four-week Handstand program designed to give you the know-how to begin to add handstand into your yoga practice. Within this inversion journey, Mark will cover all the basics from strength and flexibility, technique, skills, and drills to simple entries and shapes. We will aim to apply this in a vinyasa yoga philosophy, so expect progressive yoga floor work, using the wall work and everything else needed to nail and hold a handstand.
Week One – Begin, mapping it all out. Let's create the foundations of handstands that we can build on for the next 4 weeks and beyond.
Week Two – Hop/ Switch and L shape Handstand. This is a widely used entry and hold within the yoga practice. We will break this handstand down into its component parts and then practice, practice, practice.
Week Three – Tuck/ Float. Now we've had 2 dates already we are ready to play with the tuck handstand and understand the art of floating to the front and back of the mat.
Week Four – The whole enchilada. We are putting everything we've learned together for a fun smorgasbord of upside-down fun. Learn to add handstands in the flow.
